GBARNGA June 19, (LINA) – The Japanese Ambassador accredited to Liberia, His Excellency Ambassador Mochizuki Hisanobu has extolled Pres. Joseph N. Boakai for decentralizing economic activities across the country.

Speaking during the official dedication of the Gbarnga Central market in Bong County Wednesday, H.E. Hisanobu pointed out that the new market will provide a livelihood and conducive trading environment for marketers in the County.

He asserted that the new market contains several other facilities including a warehouse, toilet, generator hall and offices among others.

The Japanese envoy assured Liberians that the Government of Japan will continue to provide empowerment to the people of Liberia in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The Japanese Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to upholding the long cordial ties between Liberia and the Republic of Japan.

Also, the Japanese diplomat commended stakeholders who supervised the project up to its completion.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Hisanobu admonished marketers to cooperate with the Government of Liberia through the Liberia Marketing Association.

He also encouraged the marketers to use the facility as their own by taking good care of the building.

For their part, traditional leaders through their representative, Hon. Mary Lateh lauded the Japanese Government and the people of Japan for offering the county such a huge gift and promised to give it proper care.

The Bong County Paramount Chief used the opportunity to call on the Government of Liberia to urgently fence the market to prevent kids from venturing in the river that lies at the back of the new market.
