MONROVIA, June 25 (LINA) – Liberia’s Joseph Fahnbulleh and Ebony Morrison have clinched a Gold Medal in the Men and Women 100-meter race respectively at the African Athletics Senior Championships in Cameroon.

According to (goteamliberia.com), an official page of Liberian athletes, the victory in Cameroon makes Fahnbulleh the fastest man in Africa, following his marvelous display of talents.

He emerged as the Gold Medal winner in the 100m race, after an unimpressive slow start to the tightly contested battle.

The Liberian international finished the clock at 10.13 seconds to cross the finish line ahead of Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme who clocked 10.15 seconds for a second-place finish.

Fahnbulleh, 22, had a slow start initially but mustered the courage to instill in himself a fire burning momentum as the race intensified to take the top prize.

In 2021, young Fahnbulleh put up an impressive performance at the Beijing Olympics.

At the same time, Ebony Morrison has become the first Liberian Woman to Win Gold Medal in the women’s 100-meter hurdles.

Morrison clinched the women’s 100m hurdles African title with a time of 12.70 seconds over her South African counterpart Marine Fourie who won silver and Madagascar’s Sidonie Fiandanantsoa took bronze.

The Liberian team travelled to Cameroon with 11 athletes to compete in the men’s and women’s 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay, the women’s 100-meter hurdles, and women’s shot put.

The duo is expected to participate in the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics, which will run from July 26 to August 11 of this year.
