President Boakai Kicks Off First-Ever Liberia Annual National Diaspora Conference in US Capital
Washington, DC: His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. is today in the United States Capital to kick off ceremonies marking the Liberia Annual Diaspora Conference.
The first of its kind in the history of Liberia, the Diaspora Conference is bringing together Liberians abroad and the Government of Liberia to dialogue and find common grounds on the forward march of the Liberian nation.
It will be recalled that, in his State of the Nation Address at the close of the year 2024, the Liberian Leader made a national commitment to convene an All Liberian National Diaspora Conference in the US Capitol to create a forum for a global conversation on the direction of the nation and invoke greater roles that could be played by Liberians, both in and outside of the country.
The President arrived in Washington, DC from the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York where he addressed the world Body on Liberia’s perspectives on multilateralism, global peace and security in the wake of Liberia’s election to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security County.
The Diaspora Conference will run for three days, to be officially open today and will climax with an open mic town hall meeting with the President interacting with Liberians on Sunday, September 28.
