GoL To Cover Issuance Costs For Over 5,000 LNP Officers

MONROVIA, Nov. 19 (LINA) – Liberia's Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Augustine K. Ngafuan has unveiled that the Government of Liberia has decided to cover insurance of officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) which aims to reduce financial burdens on the police.

Minister Ngafuan said Tuesday November 19, 2024, when he appeared at the Ministry of Information's press briefing that the government has resolved to shoulder the responsibility of providing free medical insurance to all officers of the LNP.

By this means, the Minister narrated that they will not have to fund their health, as the current administration recognizes their enormous sacrifices to the country.

"The 2025 income support strategy entails implementing the provision of the National Security Act of 2015, which mandates the Government of Liberia to cover the insurance costs for all active-duty police officers," he disclosed.

He added: "In the first-ever implementation of this law, over 5,000 members of the Liberia National Police will be provided with insurance coverage fully funded by the Government of Liberia beginning January 2025."

This initiative, according to the Minister Ngufuan, is expected to offer additional support to these dedicated individuals who continue to sacrifice for our collective security under challenging conditions.

At the same time, the finance minister revealed a significant increase of the LNP Officers Monthly salaries by US$30 to 40, noting that these moves align with Pres. Boakai's vision to alleviate challenges being faced by security personnel.
