U.S. Envoy Toner Commits To Margibi County Developmental Drive

The United States Ambassador accredited to Liberia has assured citizens of Margibi County of his government's fullest support to their developmental drive.

During an assessment visit to Margibi County recently, Ambassador Mark Christopher Toner said that his visit was intended to acquaint himself with the authorities of the county and directly understand their developmental priorities.

"I have been for the last two weeks acquainting myself with the leadership of the country including the President Joseph N. Boakai, Sr. and Margibi County is now a second choice to move in and assess the developmental drive and acquaint myself with authorities of the county in helping to determine their developmental priorities", Ambassador Toner said.

He said his government will look mainly in the areas of agriculture and health but will also help with other critical areas in addressing the developmental needs of the county to move it forward.

“I was a Peace Corps Volunteer (PCV) in the early 80s, and so just sitting in Monrovia will not be of more help.  Moving around the country and meeting with the citizens and their local officials of the government of which Margibi County is a natural first choice to start with,” he said.

He thanked Superintendent Victoria W. Duncan and her officials for giving him a warm reception during his visit to Margibi County.

For her part, Superintendent Duncan thanked Ambassador  Toner for his visit to Margibi County.

"Mr. Ambassador, I look forward to working along with you in helping Margibi County's developmental initiative move forward," Superintendent Duncan stated.
