MOJ Trains 22 Corrections Officers In Advanced Record Management
MONROVIA, Dec. 4 (LINA) - In a significant stride aimed at enhancing the justice sector and ensuring accountability and transparency in the management of correctional facilities, 22 record management officers from 16 prison facilities across Liberia have completed an intensive two-day capacity-building training on prison record management and database systems.
The training which was hosted by the Ministry of Justice in Monrovia from December 2-3, 2024, was conducted under the auspices of the American Bar Association-Rule of Law Initiative in collaboration with the Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation (BCR).
It was aimed to enhance participants' proficiency in using an updated database system designed to provide real-time information on inmates at correctional facilities nationwide.
Speaking at the opening session of the training, Assistant Director for Prisons Operations Lawrence Bohle underscored the significance of the program, emphasizing its role in improving the operational efficiency of Liberia's correctional facilities.
He urged participants to remain focused and committed to acquiring the necessary skills to enhance their performance.
"This training is a vital part of the Ministry of Justice's efforts to strengthen the capacity of prison officers across the country," Director Bohle said. "The Ministry remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation stations nationwide," Bohle said.
The event was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Justice, including Assistant Justice Minister Atty. Gabriel F. Ndupellar, who highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to modernize and professionalize the corrections system.
Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that the skills acquired would contribute to more accurate record-keeping and improved prison management.
