 MONROVIA, June 29 (LINA) – The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) on June 26, 2024, convened a forum to enhance tax education and promote compliance among cross-border traders.

Speaking at the opening session at the LRA headquarters in Paynesville on June 26, 2024, the Assistant Commissioner for Customs Compliance and Reinforcement, Mr. Blamo Kofa emphasized the crucial role of accurate goods declaration in avoiding penalties.

He further urged traders to uphold transparency in all their business dealings as a means of fostering growth and development in the country.

The message of the LRA official was received with optimism as the participants expressed their delight for the opportunity for dialogue and cooperation in improving revenue collection practices.

Also, the traders lauded Mr. Kofa for the informative engagement and advocated for regular interactions to maintain compliance momentum and foster a supportive trading environment.

The session highlighted a shared commitment to promoting a constructive relationship between taxpayers and the government.

The event focused on extensive discussions and collaborative efforts on key topics including Cross-Border Clearing Procedures, Rules of Origin, Taxpayer Rights, Customs Protocols, and the Appeal Mechanism.
