As part of its ongoing public sector reform efforts, the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission-PPCC has been conducting a series of internal training sessions for its staff. These sessions focus on familiarizing employees with the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System and enhancing institutional capacity for effective implementation.
The #PPCC, which holds statutory oversight for all public procurement and concessions activities in Liberia, has introduced the e-GP system to improve transparency, promote efficiency, and restore public confidence in procurement processes. Supported by the World Bank, the system has already been deployed in six (6) Ministries, Agencies, and Commissions (MACs) during phase one with fifty (50) additional MACs to benefit from deployment in phase two across the country.
The Commission is mandated to ensure the economic and efficient use of public funds and to guarantee that procurement and concession processes are carried out in a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory manner. The introduction of the e-GP system represents a critical step in achieving these goals.
During the training, staff members received a comprehensive system overview, including demonstrations and discussions on key features and operational procedures. The session was facilitated by the Commission’s Training Department, under the leadership of Director Maude A. Saye, who elaborated on the technical and functional aspects of the e-procurement database and was assisted by the Project Manager, Mr. Ezekiel Obazele.
Participants expressed appreciation to the Executive Director Mr. Bodger Scott Johnson for his leadership and commitment to staff development.
They welcomed the initiative and affirmed their readiness to adopt the new system, recognizing its potential to improve their work and enhance the Commission’s overall effectiveness.
This internal training mirrors similar engagements previously conducted for sixteen (16) Ministries, Agencies, and Commissions (MACs), and forms part of the broader strategy to ensure nationwide adoption and optimal use of the e-GP platform.
