PPCC and UNDP Launch Media Awareness Campaign on e-GP System in Grand Bassa, Nimba, Bong, Capemount, Margibi, Bomi, and Montserrado Counties

May 2025, Liberia, In a strategic move to enhance transparency, efficiency, and public awareness around public procurement processes, the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission-PPCC, with support from the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP, has launched a targeted media awareness engagement campaign on the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system. This awareness initiative is currently underway in the stated counties.
The campaign aims to educate the public, media stakeholders, and local procurement entities on the functions, benefits, and procedures of the e-GP system, a digital platform designed to streamline public procurement, reduce opportunities for corruption, and improve service delivery in Liberia.
Speaking at the launch in Grand Bassa County, the Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Bodger Scott Johnson emphasized the importance of building public trust and understanding around procurement reforms. In his words the PPCC Boss intimated that “The e-GP system is a critical milestone in Liberia’s digital transformation journey. It enables government institutions to manage procurement processes online, which increases accountability and levels the playing field for all businesses, including small and medium enterprises,” the ED said.
The campaign includes interactive radio talk shows, community outreach, and training sessions with local journalists, media professionals and civil service organizations, ensuring they are equipped with accurate information to report on procurement processes and promote public oversight.
#UNDP Liberia, a key partner in governance and institutional reform, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Liberia’s public sector transformation by promoting inclusive governance and reducing inefficiencies in public financial management which is essential for sustainable development.
Meanwhile, participants in the counties expressed optimism about the initiative, highlighting the potential for increased civic engagement and improved service delivery at the local level.
The media awareness campaign is part of a broader national strategy to ensure the effective rollout of the e-GP system to an additional fifty (50) Ministries, Agencies and Commissions, MACs, and to foster a culture of transparency, citizen participation, and good governance across Liberia.
As the campaign continues across the initial seven counties, the PPCC and its partners encourage the public to engage with the e-GP platform and become active participants in Liberia’s procurement transformation journey.
