The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) in collaboration with Medicare, has begun medical screening exercises for its employees amid efforts by the LEC to promote and prioritize the health and well-being of its workforce. Speaking in an interview with a team of journalists Wednesday, at the official launch of the medical screening program held at the headquarters of the entity in Monrovia, the LEC boss Monie R. Captan indicated that the screening exercise will be taken to all its sub-stations across the Country.

The LEC boss assured employees of the entity that the medical screening exercise will be performed on a routine basis for employees of the entity. Commenting on the partnership between LEC and Medicare, LEC’s Sr. Manager for Information and Public Affairs, Philip Kamara Farley said the agreement with Medicare is the management's own initiative aimed at making sure it provides a safer environment for employees and to encourage others who are not interested to follow suit.

Mr. Farley added that the screening process includes tests for Hepatitis A & B, Diabetes, random blood sugar, Malaria, eye examination, drug and alcohol tests, Cholesterol, Blood Pressure and many others. He encouraged all LEC staff across the country to voluntarily make themselves available for the exercise because it is for their own benefits. LINA/DMK/IAS/WSG
