Speaking Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Liberia Technology Summit 2026, held at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town under the theme, “Government Digital Transformation: Building a Smarter Liberia,” President Boakai said his Administration is committed to leveraging technology to improve governance, expand economic opportunities, and deliver more efficient public services to the Liberian people.
The President said the Government’s digital agenda is intended to make public institutions more responsive, transparent, and accessible while creating an enabling environment for innovation, entrepreneurship, and investment.
As part of this vision, President Boakai highlighted Executive Order No. 163, which established the Office of Technology, Digitalization and Innovation within the Office of the President as the central coordinating authority for Liberia’s whole-of-government digital transformation. He said the Office will lead efforts to replace fragmented systems and outdated processes with an integrated digital government capable of delivering efficient, transparent, and citizen-centered services.
President Boakai also proclaimed July 21 as National Technology Day, to be observed annually across Liberia in recognition of the growing role of technology and innovation in national development.
The President noted that the Government’s digital transformation initiative will simplify citizens’ access to public services while making it easier for businesses to register, invest, pay taxes, and meet regulatory requirements. He added that expanded digital platforms will also improve opportunities for students, farmers, healthcare workers, and other sectors through greater access to information, technology, and public services.
President Boakai called for stronger collaboration among government institutions, the private sector, academic institutions, innovators, investors, development partners, and civil society, stressing that building a modern digital economy requires broad national partnerships.
Addressing young innovators, software developers, engineers, cybersecurity professionals, entrepreneurs, and technology enthusiasts attending the Summit, the President expressed confidence in Liberia’s emerging talent and pledged his Administration’s continued support for an ecosystem where innovation can flourish and locally developed technologies can compete globally under the banner of “Made in Liberia.”
He further pledged continued investment in digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital literacy, improved connectivity, and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, financial technology, and digital public services as part of the Government’s strategy to modernize governance and expand economic opportunities.
President Boakai encouraged participants to use the Summit as a platform to exchange ideas, build strategic partnerships, and develop practical solutions that will accelerate Liberia’s digital transformation and contribute to inclusive national development.
