MONROVIA, LIBERIA — In a monumental step toward bringing government services closer to the people, the Ministry of Transport has officially broken ground for the construction of four major regional transport hubs across the country.
The nationwide initiative is designed to streamline transport administration, boost local economies, and enhance road safety measures nationwide.
The groundbreaking ceremonies, which rolled out across multiple counties starting September 14, 2026, mark a transformative milestone in the administration's national development agenda.
Bringing Services Closer to the Counties
Maryland County (Pleebo): The groundbreaking ceremony was led by the Deputy Minister for Land and Rail Transport, Honorable Rudolph Gee, Natt, Jr. . Honorable Natt emphasized that the new hub in Pleebo will empower locals by allowing them to conveniently register vehicles, obtain driver’s licenses, and conduct other transport-related businesses without traveling to Monrovia.
Lofa County Vonjanma: Assistant Minister for Administration and Insurance, Honorable James K. Momo, spearheaded this ceremony. Highlighting President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s robust decentralization drive, Honorable Momo noted that this facility comes with an estimated price tag of $178,000 United States dollars.
Nimba County (Ganta): Deputy Minister for Administration and Insurance, Honorable Archibald S. Abban, presided over the Ganta event.
He noted that the initiative is part of a presidential special project under the National Road Fund of Liberia, aimed at decentralizing the ministry's activities while significantly reinforcing regional road safety measures.
Bomi County (Klay District): On September 16, 2026, the Minister of Transport Honorable Sirleaf Ralph Tyler broke grounds alongside local county authorities. Minister Tyler challenged residents across Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, and Gbarpolu counties to fully utilize the upcoming western regional hub, which is also valued at $178,000 United States dollars.
