As part of a Special Presidential mandate, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Republic of Liberia, Cllr. Oswald Tweh has embarked on inspecting the road condition of the Western Cluster Mines Limited Concession area in Bomi County.

According to a dispatch from the Ministry of Justice dated Sept 16, 2024, Cllr. Tweh led a delegation comprising representatives from the Ministries of Public Works and Mines and Energy to Tubmanburg, Bomi County on the assessment tour.

The statement added that the Attorney General and his team inspected road works from the St Paul Bridge to Tubmanburg, Bomi County.

Cllr. Tweh was designated by President Joseph N. Boakai, Sr.  to inspect and investigate whether Western Cluster was fulfilling its social corporate responsibility in keeping with its contract with the Government of Liberia.

It can be recalled that upon President Boakai's inauguration, he visited the Western Cluster Limited as a means of assessing the company in terms of its compliance with concession terms.

Following the Liberian leader's visit, he openly rebuked the company for causing serious damage to the country rather than relief as recommended by the Mineral Development Agreement (MDM) signed with the government.

Few weeks after the President's outburst against the Western Cluster, the Public Works Ministry suspended the company's permit requesting for some compliance efforts from the management of the company. Again, the MPW suspended the Road User Permit (RUP-220620-004) of Western Cluster Limited after pressure from Senators on Capitol Hill over the damage the company posed to national infrastructures.

Based on these actions, the Government of Liberia and Western Cluster Limited signed a resolution, mandating the company to rehabilitate the road it has been using by maintaining and sustaining it.
