GOL Repatriates 20-Year-old Human Trafficking Victim To Sierra Leone

The Liberia National Anti- Human Trafficking Task Force through the Ministry of Labour has repatriated a 20-year-old Sierra Leonean human trafficking victim who was rescued and reunited with her family members.
Speaking during a brief ceremony held recently at the Ministry of Labor in Monrovia, Labor Minister Cooper W. Kruah, stated that the victim, identified as Facia Kaifa, was trafficked to Liberia at the age eleven by her own father who has been arrested, charged and sentenced at the Monrovia Central Prison.
Minister Kruah added that in keeping with protocol, it is important to repatriate the young female who has been accompanied by a team from the National Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force alongside her uncle, Borbor Allie back home.
The Labor Ministry boss expressed the Government of Liberia's commitment to fighting against Trafficking in Persons with serious concern because it has laws against this menace and will make sure that they are enforced.
"Currently there are two cases of trafficking on the docket for this term of court and will make sure that they are held," Minister Kruah said.
The Liberian Labor Minister, who is leading the fight against Human Trafficking, expressed gratitude to the uncle of the victim who has been taking care of her.
At the same time, Minister Kruah extolled the Sierra Leonean Embassy for being very responsive and realizing that Liberia was not responsible but did what was required from the government.
For her part, the Victim, Facia Kaifa thanked the Government of Liberia and people for the accommodation and protection provided to her in the country.
Also, the Community Liaison Officer Mohammed Wai at the Sierra Leonean Embassy in Liberia extended thanks to the Government of Liberia through the Taskforce for the level of professional coordination in steering the affairs of the country.
Officer Wai said, the Sierra Leonean Embassy in Liberia has witnessed several cases where the Liberian Government has applied efforts in ensuring that the requisite services are provided to their citizens.
Wai also promised to make sure that the bilateral relationship between the two countries is enhanced.
In brief remarks, Borbor Allie, uncle of the victim, applaued the GoL for the care provided to his niece and opportunity provided to him to accompany her back home.
