MONROVIA, June 20 (LINA) – The Speaker of the 55th Legislature, Hon. J. Fonati Koffa has expressed dissatisfaction over what he terms as the Ministry of Finance lack of support to members of the House of Representative.
According to Speaker Koffa, financial records from the Liberia Revenue Authority shows that the country is in good financial standings and as such, there should be no justification why the operational funds of the House of Representative cannot be released.
Speaking Tuesday at the 9th day sitting of the House of Representatives, Speaker Koffa lamented that the House of Representatives risks shutting down if the Ministry of Finance and Development planning fails to meet the operational needs of the legislative body.
Speaker Koffa maintained that despite the latest budget numbers from the Liberia Revenue Authorities showing positive performance, members of the House of Representatives are still facing financial constraints.
On the contrary, Speaker Koffa highlighted that members of the Liberian Senate are well taken care of and given every necessary funding intended for their operations.
