Grand Bassa County Senator, Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, has confirmed that President Joseph N. Boakai has committed to completing the Grand Bassa Sports Academy.
In a recent statement, Senator Lawrence revealed that she discussed the project directly with the President, who assured her of his support.
The Sports Academy, located in the Neekreen Statutory District, Grand Bassa County, features a football field, dormitory, offices, and other facilities.
It is a long-awaited initiative aimed at advancing sports development and providing essential facilities for young athletes.
However, the project has faced delays over the years, but Senator Lawrence expressed optimism that with President Boakai’s backing, the project will progress and will be completed promptly.
“This is a significant step forward for the youth of Grand Bassa and the entire country,” Senator Lawrence stated, adding, President Boakai’s commitment to prioritize and complete the academy highlights his dedication to improving sports infrastructure and supporting future generations.”
The idea for the Grand Bassa Sports Academy originated from Senator Lawrence’s vision to enhance sports in the county. Initially conceived as a legislative project, it has faced challenges due to its extensive scope.
The completion of the Grand Bassa Sports Academy is expected to boost sports training and opportunities for young Liberians, potentially establishing the region as a center for athletic excellence.
