Margibi County Education Officer, Stephen Toe is encouraging more females to enroll at various learning facilities across the county.

Mr. Toe disclosed that statistics from last academic year showed a surge in the enrollment of female students for the first time in years.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Liberia News Agency (LINA) at his office in Kakata on September 16, 2024, the Margibi County Education Officer said he was very much excited to see such a huge enrollment of female students in both public and private schools in the county.

He said considering the numerous challenges female students face to remain in the classroom, he was very much surprised as he called on parents to give more support to females.

Mr. Toe revealed that the current ratio of male to female in enrollment is 51 to 49 percent.

"Currently, Margibi County has 1,905 schools, including public and private as well as faith-based institutions with 123,000 students that enrolled for the last academic year,” he said.

Meanwhile, the County Education Officer extolled the Minister of Education for allowing fees collected to remain at that institution for the running of the schools in the county.

However, he cautioned school administrators to ensure that they act in strict compliance with the government's Public Procurement and Concession Commission (PPCC) laws before attempting to carry out needed work at their respective schools in Margibi County.

He further stated that with monitoring and supervision being the core of all county education officers across the country, his office will closely monitor all public and private schools in the county to ensure that they are in strict compliance with the Ministry of Education guidelines.

"Thank God for the level of support we are receiving from the Government of Liberia headed by President Joseph N. Boakai, Sr. and the Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso Jallah," he noted.
