LFA Boss Wants Referees Display Professionalism, Eschew Malpractices

MONROVIA, June 14 (LINA) – The Head of Liberia Football Association, Mustapha I. Raji has cautioned Liberian referees to exhibit good conduct by keeping the game clean and avoid acts that would undermine the association negatively.

 

The LFA President was speaking recently at the start of a five-day training for 30 elite FIFA referees at the headquarters of the Liberia Football Association in Paynesville, outside Monrovia.

 

“I want to warn you because it is very important, we keep the game clean, avoid the acceptance of bribes, incentives or gifts from individuals,” the LFA Boss noted.

 

He disclosed that because of poor performances from some referees, the association has received numerous complaints emanating from the National County Sports Meets. He said even though the LFA is not the organizers but are being held responsible in cases where the referees allegedly defaulted.

 

Making brief remarks, lead facilitator Jason Damoo who hails from the Seychelles was assisted by two former FIFA Badge Liberian Referees, Isaac T.Z. Montgomery and Abraham Fahnbulleh, expressed his gratitude to the LFA for hosting him for the fourth time while outlining the aim of his visit.

Damoo used the occasion to caution the referees to keep the high standards and play by the laws of the game.

 

“I am told we should create more spaces for women, and I am highly impressed with the number of females attending the training," the FIFA instructor indicated
