As part of ongoing efforts to foster inclusive and collaborative dialogue around the implementation of the electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system, a roundtable discussion was held with six key Ministries, Agencies, and Commissions (MACs) currently utilizing the system. The engagement took place at the World Bank Office in Congo Town and brought together procurement and IT focal persons from the pilot entities, alongside representatives from the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC), and technical partners supporting the reform from the World Bank.
The session served as a platform for open exchange on the current progress, challenges, and user experiences with the e-GP system. The participating #MACs included the Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Liberia Revenue Authority, and the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission-PPCC. Each institution shared updates on their internal adoption of the platform, successes realized, as well as areas requiring further improvement.
Key discussion points revolved around the need for sustained training for end-users, timely technical support, and strategies for transitioning remaining procurement processes and additional #MACs to the digital platform. Participants also provided recommendations to further enhance system usability, user interface, and reporting tools.
In his remarks, the #PPCC Executive Director underscored the importance of feedback from end-users, noting that such engagements not only promote system improvement but also deepen ownership and accountability among stakeholders. He emphasized that the Commission remains committed to working collaboratively with all implementing entities to address emerging challenges and ensure a smoother adoption of the e-GP system nationwide.
The World Bank Team reiterated its commitment to supporting the Government of Liberia’s digital transformation in public procurement and acknowledged the proactive steps taken by the pilot #MACs in embracing the system.
The roundtable concluded with a renewed commitment from all parties to enhance coordination, share lessons learned, and continue the collective journey towards a transparent, efficient, and fully digital public procurement process in Liberia.
