As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public procurement processes, the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission-PPCC has embarked on a series of targeted awareness engagements across universities and professional development institutions in Montserrado County.

These engagements form a critical component of the national rollout of the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system, a digital platform designed to streamline public procurement procedures in line with the Public Procurement and Concessions Act (PPCA) of 2010.

Since the commencement of this academic outreach initiative, the PPCC’s e-GP technical and awareness team has visited several higher learning institutions, including the United Methodist University, Stella Maris Polytechnic University, African Methodist Episcopal University and the Gonet Academy, among others.

During each session, students, faculty members, and administrators are introduced to the core functions and benefits of the e-GP platform. Presentations focus on the system’s capacity to curb corruption, foster competition, and improve service delivery through transparent procurement practices. The engagement also highlights the importance of youth and academic institutions in sustaining procurement reforms and promoting a culture of accountability.

According to the Awareness Team, the inclusion of academic and professional institutions in the awareness campaign is intentional and strategic. “We believe that the future of good governance begins with education. By engaging the next generation of leaders, we are creating a strong foundation for sustainable reforms in public financial management,” a representative of the team noted.

Participants at the sessions have expressed keen interest in the system, with many calling for continued collaboration between the #PPCC and academic institutions, including the introduction of public procurement and e-GP modules in university curricula.

The awareness activities, with funding from the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP are expected to continue throughout the coming weeks, reaching additional institutions across Montserrado and setting the stage for a nationwide e-GP education drive.

Through this initiative, the PPCC reinforces its resolve to ensure that all stakeholders, including academia are adequately informed and empowered to support and benefit from the ongoing digital transformation of Liberia’s public procurement sector.
