MIA Hosts Validation Workshop on LGA Implementation Phase II and Strategic Plan 2026–2030
Monrovia, Liberia – The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) on Friday held a one-day validation workshop for the Local Government Act (LGA 2018) Implementation Plan – Phase II, along with the Ministry’s Strategic Plan for 2026–2030. The event took place at the Corina Hotel in Sinkor, Monrovia.
The workshop brought together key government representatives, partners, national consultants, and civil society organizations to review and validate frameworks intended to strengthen local governance and public sector service delivery across the country.
Speaking during the session, Hon. Edward K. Mulbah, Deputy Minister for Research and Development Planning at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, emphasized the importance of advancing decentralization activities to empower local authorities and improve community participation in decision-making.
Also in attendance was Hon. Selena P. Mappy, Deputy Minister for Operations, who highlighted the Ministry’s renewed commitment to ensuring that the LGA is fully operationalized across all counties in alignment with national development priorities.
National Consultants Mr. Peter S. Dolo and Mr. Oscar Bloe presented key components of the draft implementation plan and the proposed five-year strategic roadmap. Stakeholders engaged in discussions aimed at refining strategic actions, defining responsibilities, and ensuring resource mobilization for successful rollout.
Representatives from civil society organizations, development partners, and relevant government institutions expressed their support and contributed recommendations to strengthen governance systems at the local level.
The validation marks a critical step toward finalizing the documents, which are expected to guide ongoing decentralization efforts and improve local administration efficiency nationwide.
